Research and Acquisition

Certain knowledge or items may take longer periods of time to locate. This is represented by the Research and Acquisition system in which, at the end of each session during the progression phase, you will decide if you are pursuing something and make a single roll of an applicable skill. This will represent your “off screen” efforts in pursuit of your objective.

This can be more information about a certain subject (the information still has to be available, it will not poof out of thin air), the location of a particular artefact (particularly one that exists in the real world and was known about “back then”), or a specific piece of equipment that may take a longer period of time to convince higher command you actually need (or build yourself).

These objectives can be cooperative, but each player character can only contribute to one such pursuit between each session. Each character’s roll can be with a different skill toward the same objective, given that the player can explain how the skill relates to the pursuit.

Should the primary pursuer ever decide to pursue, or contribute to, a different objective all progress towards it will be lost, regardless of another character continuing the pursuit, the primary character serving as an anchor for the pursuit.
